Thanks to all for the lovely gifts! It’s been a delightful holiday season, full of family and good times. I hope you enjoyed yours as well! Tell me about something cool you and your family did together!
Thanksgiving is almost here! Everybody has their favorites for Thanksgiving dinner. We always have the traditional turkey dinner. My mom was the only one who liked to have creamed onions and mashed turnip. My dad wanted sauerkraut to go with the turkey. Me? I think my favorite is the massive, messy sandwiches we made later that night [...]
Veteran’s Day is Tuesday. Do you remember after which war it was started? Who are veterans? Why do we honor them? So many questions! I want to thank you for all of the great thinking you’ve been doing about this. Be sure to say “Thank you for your service to our country!” to anyone you [...]
It’s almost time! We’ve been hearing about Barack Obama and John McCain for a long time. Now it’s time for grownups to make up their minds. I hope you get to go vote with your parents. Talk with them about the things that they are doing when they go to the polling place. Then tell [...]
We are going to start talking about the elections this week. There are at least 5 people who want to be President of the United States! Can you name 2 of them? Look at the signs next to the roads. What jobs are they advertising? (Don’t tell me who your parent may vote for!)
It’s baseball playoff time! The Rays and the Red Sox are playing while I type this. They’re tied in the 5th inning. The Phillies have beaten the Dodgers twice! Do you like baseball? What is your favorite team? What is the name of the series that the winners play next? This is fun!
Have you ever been to a fire house? I wonder if the firefighers still slide down poles inside the fire house! Did you ever wonder why firefighters started keeping dalmations? Do they still have them?
I hope you’ll get to visit your local firehouse this week. If you do, be sure to thank the firefighters for protecting you!
We’ve been talking about how important it is to listen to someone else read to us. My brother loved to hear our mom read Dr. Seuss’s Gerald McBoing Boing…over and over again! What is a story that you love to hear your Mom or Dad read to you?
This week we got our honeypots with 4 bees. Boy, those bees sure were busy making lots of honey! Did it make you feel good?
I was very proud of you. You were champion students! What made you most proud of yourself?
Love, Ms. Debus
I really enjoyed having Red Grammer visit us! He is such a cool guy! I’m so glad that we had the chance to ask him questions. I learned so much about him! Did you enjoy his visit, too? What is your favorite Red Grammer song?
